HOLIZAAR SPOTLIGHT ON: RENEE WUNDERLI

"I started making metal jewelry in late 80’s. Along the way I have taken many courses and experimented with various metals and techniques. What excites me most is working with various textures, patinas and cold connections/riveting pieces together opposed to soldering. I fabricate the shape and then etch designs and/or textures in to the metal and then add a patina or oxidizing solution to bring out the etching. Hearts of all kinds are a common theme in my work. Hearts with vague anatomical designs, broken hearts, mended hearts. A heart is something most of us can connect with in some way, whether is whole, broken or mended." -- Renee Wunderli

You've never seen anything like this before--because Carrie Matteoli has never been in Holizaar before!  By day Carrie is a trained architect but her creativity isn't limited to blueprints.  She has done all types of art from wood burning to ceramic clay, she is the type of creator that uses anything withing arms reach to achieve her vision.  See her latest and greatest creations! HOLIZAAR SPOTLIGHT ON: BOILED BOOKS

Coming back to Holizaar for a second year is Rachael of Boiled Books. Boiled Books create a truly exquisite handmade journals and cards that inspire. Rachael takes flowers and leaves and presses them in between the pages of a book she hand binds with cotton paper. Then she boils the whole thing. That's right...she places the whole book in a pot of water and boils it! This process leaves the natural color and staining of the flora and foliage--fresh leaves, flowers, seeds, and other natural elements are all used to make these one of a kind pieces.
